United Way funding supports a network of agencies that provide vital programming to thousands of people in Lethbridge & South Western Alberta. Programs support impactful programs and services that will provide long term outcomes and respond to the most immediate and pressing needs.
To be able to tackle to toughest problems in our communities, we must understand the root causes. We ask others to join us who are experts that can bring research to the table, passionate people that enjoy volunteering for a cause, and generous donors who want to see a change in our community.

We work with multiple partners, agencies, government, people who have lived experiences, volunteers and donors who are working together to be change makers. We gather research to identify where help is needed most.

From Poverty to Possibility
- Families and individuals have access to nutritious food
- Housing security is available to more individuals and families
- Skills training assists those needing to advance their abilities to maintain employment
- Individuals are able to manage their personal finances effectively through supportive resources and training opportunities.
Almost 4 million Canadians are considered to be living in poverty.
$1065 is the average amount a family of 4 will see their grocery bill increase this year.
Healthy People Strong Communities
- Culturally relevant programs and services for Indigenous individuals and/or families.
- Adults and children with physical or developmental disabilities live independently and actively participate in communities.
- Newcomers settle and integrate in their community with supportive measures that offer leadership and learning opportunities.
- Adults experiencing mental health crisis have access to immediate supports
- People who have experienced abuse have a safe space
- Organizations are supported in building capacity, leadership and volunteer engagement
- Communities are safe
1 in 3 women will experience sexual violence in their lifetime
1 in 5 Canadians experience mental illness or addiction problems
All That Kids Can Be
- Children and youth are successful in school
- Kids develop positive relationships with adults and peers at home, at school and in the neighbourhood and contribute to the community in a meaningful way
- Children are healthy and engaged in day to day activities.
1 in 3 children in Canada are at risk of going to school hungry.
1 in 3 people in Canada experienced bullying as a child
