2014 Youth Week
YWCA of Lethbridge & District
The YWCA of Lethbridge & District provides a number of programs that serve to address issues facing women and, in particular, young girls.
GirlSpace offers programs that focus on key social issues for girls and young women. GirlSpace fills the need for girl-only extra-curricular community programs, offering girls the opportunity to increase their awareness about violence and its root causes, while exploring self, personal achievements, building on positive self-esteem and making new friends.
Sr. GirlSpace is offered on Monday evenings for girls ages 13-17 while Jr. GirlSpace is for girls ages 8-12 on Wednesdays evenings and Friday afternoons.
Although there is a registration process, the GirlSpace programs are all free and FUN!
One program currently being offered is Girls with Tools. Girls and young women have the opportunity to explore non-traditional activities and roles in areas like mechanics, plumbing and carpentry.
Separate sessions are offered for different age groups.
