Event Date: Thursday, September 28, 2017
Event Location: Lethbridge City Hall
United Way is preparing to raise the flag and light the lights at Lethbridge City Hall on Thursday, September 28 at 10:00am to kick off the 76th Annual Fundraising Campaign.
The organization is inviting donors, volunteers and the general public to come and celebrate the official campaign launch, which will begin with a $20,000 donation from the Kinsmen Foundation designated to Lethbridge’s Ready, Set, Go! program.
Maureen Burke, chair of the board of directors says she is looking forward to the challenge of improving over the previous year.
“During our last campaign, we were in a rebuilding year,” she said. “After a year of hard work, we’re now able to give out $75,000 more than we did the year before. Of course, we want to surpass that again, and make sure the most urgent community needs are met.”
Burke says that in addition to the work of the staff and leadership, the credit for the increase goes to those who take part in the campaign.
“There are so many ways to be involved. Whether you donated at your workplace, at one of our events or online during the Last-Minute Lethbridge push, we thank you.”
In 2017-2018, United Way will distribute an additional $75,000 over the previous year to organizations in South Western Alberta to run programs for people and families. United Way focuses on the areas of poverty reduction, building healthy, inclusive communities, and promoting positive child and youth development.
