Examples of works accepted: Paintings, drawings, videos (max. 10 minutes), songs, poetry, photography, short stories (max. 5,000 words), essays, digital compositions, mixed media, sculptures (max. 20lbs.), weaving, quilting, needlepoint. Please contact us about submissions that are not similar to any of these types.
Submissions may be physical or digital, at the artist’s discretion, and depending on the type of work.
Physical submissions (ex: paintings, sculptures, needlepoint…) may be delivered to United Way (#203 B, 542 - 7 St. S. Lethbridge). Digital submissions (ex: essays, songs, photographs…) may be emailed to email@example.com.
Each submission will be featured in an album on United Way's Facebook page for the People's Choice component of the contest. Following a two week voting period from November 3-13, the submission receiving the most points will be announced as the winner of the People's Choice award. First, second and third place winners will be chosen by a jury comprised of members of contest partner organizations.
This contest is open to residents of Lethbridge and South Western Alberta of all ages and abilities. A completed copy of the SUBMISSION FORM MUST accompany your submission. Please be sure to share a valid email address which is checked regularly. One submission per artist. Individuals and groups may collaborate on a submission; however winning submissions will be awarded one cash prize only.
All contest winners will be notified on or about November 16. If possible and practical, winners will be invited to an award ceremony at CASA during the week of November 23 where the results will be announced publicly. Contest winners will be contacted to arrange pick-up dates which will follow a public display period at CASA. All other submissions may be retrieved from the United Way office following the November 23 announcement.
By submitting to this contest, artists give United Way permission to publicly display their work with name attached. Each submission is greatly valued and recognized as an important step towards reconciliation in the community. We thank all artists for their work!
